This painting has a sister painting, both the girls are depicted lying down on their fronts. Despite this not necessarily being my original intention, they both appear incredibly sad.
Maybe this was a reflection of how I was feeling at the time, January is always a tough time after the fun and cheer of Christmas has passed. and we just have the long and cold winter months ahead of us to look at and hope to pass quickly! I’ve always really resonated with painting using blue as my main colour and keeping the works very bright and cheerful, however, this did not come through here, I still love the outcomes and think they successfully show emotion which is always my main goal. To make the viewer think and feel something.
